I chose Arnold Schwarzenegger as my inspiration because my focus is almost solely on bodybuilding, for males as well as females. I chose him specifically because he shows people that no matter where you come from, no matter where you start; you can achieve your goals and reach your dreams. He started out from nothing, from a poor family with only his own means to workout. He started out with no self confidence, yet still managed to get to the top. He had a dream, and he went out and achieved it, no matter what it took. I chose someone who did not lead a team at first, but lead himself first, because that is how I feel I approach my training and I feel like it relates more to my story. He started out in his own head, in his own home, motivating himself. He then took that and used it to get him to where he is now, and he is such an inspiration and amazing leader today to those around him and to those within the sport of bodybuilding. He is the one who made the sport so popular, and who helps me, along with many others, believe in themselves and keep trying and moving forward. He has ultimately showed me that in order to be a great leader, you have to believe in yourself first.

Growing up watching college basketball I thought Coach K was a tremendous leader. I always looked at him as a winner. He has won more games than any coach in NCAA D1 college basketball. He has built a culture at Duke that will be remembered forever. One thing I like about Coach K he pushes his athletes in the classroom, the graduation rate for athletes that come through the Duke program is very high. I think his coaching styles pop out to me. Most coaches only have one style and stick with it. Coach K can go from finger in the face yelling to a soft side sitting down with you talking emotions. His communications skills are great he knows the right buttons to push on his players because he gets to know them all on a personal level. He incorporates the importance of being a family and spreading love with his athletes. As I was growing up he inspired me to be a competitor, no matter what the situation is I’m going to compete to win. There’s no such thing as a participation award you either win or you lose. To this day Coach K as inspired me to one day coach sports and become a great leader for future athletes.

I chose Floyd Mayweather Jr as my inspiration in sports not only because he is the best boxer in the world but because of the hard work he dedicates to his craft every single day. I love his attitude inside and outside the ring, he feels like he is the best and he trains like he is the best and it all pays off. He is one of the most successful people in sports and he is very boastful about it which he has every right to. He has dedicated his life to this sport since he was a child and ended his boxing career 50-0. His will to win is impeccable and hasn’t been matched in the boxing world. He trains relentlessly and feels like he is the best boxer ever and no one can take that from him. He motivates me to have a better work ethic and to push myself to be the absolute best that I can be through hard work.

My inspiration in sports’ spirit comes from a woman named Senora Webster Carver. She became the first female horse diver. When she was 19 years old, she was hired by Doc Carver to perform a horse-diving circus act in which she was to mount a running horse as it leaped off a 40-60 foot tower into an 11 foot deep pool. She made her first dive in 1923 and continued with the show. However after about seven years of diving, she and her horse Red Lips took the dive wrong. When they hit the water, Senora had her eyes open and suffered retinal detachment that made her blind. She continued to dive off horses until 1942 when she was 38 years old. This woman has a spirit that is exemplary in nature. She had the hunger for what she wanted to do and would not let anything hold her back. As a young woman at 19, she ran away from home looking for work because she didn’t want the life of a humble house wife. She craved adventure. She worked hours among hours to be able to build the strength it took to pull herself onto the horse last minute while the horse was full speed. After suffering from a horrendous circumstance, she still stayed with it. She pushed herself past fear and kept steady on what she wanted. I find her strength and spirit mesmerizing. https://youtu.be/r8vIjuIeQpM

The athlete I admire most is Lebron James. Mainly because of his hard work and some of the hardships he’s had to overcome and still be as successful and as humble as he is. Despite being criticized he’s always giving back to where he came from and others because he wants to inspire the youth because they are the future and try to change the culture of the world. One of the main things I admire the most is that he is a great dad and puts his family before anything which I aspire to do in the future. He’s also one of the greatest to do what he does and as an athlete that’s what everyone is inspired to do. Lebron continues to improve each season because of the work he does during the offseason and his work during the season.

When it comes to sports my inspiration is Ndamukong Suh. I choose him as my inspiration just simply because he plays my position and he is very nasty at it. So every time I step on to the field I try to be nasty just like him. he just recently got passed up on the list but he was the highest paid defensive tackle n the NFL. One of his teammates named Aaron Donald just passed him up with a 161 million dollar contract with 87 million signing bonus. I look up to both of these players and try to model my gave after them and that is why they inspire me.

I chose Kobe Bryant for my leadership example not only because he’s my favorite basketball player of all time, but because he embodies a type of leadership that I myself want to emulate in my life. Kobe is a dynamic leader. He’s not afraid of confrontation with his teammates because above all, he wants to win. Kobe raises the level of play of his teammates by constantly pushing them to be the best they can be. Kobe also leads by example. He expects and demands that his teammates have the same dedication and drive as him in perfecting their craft and helping the team win games. On top of all of this, Kobe has an amazing work ethic and relentless determination to be the best he can be and help his team win championships. Kobe is not afraid of crunch time either, often leading his team to the win with clutch shots, clutch plays, and clutch defense. Another aspect of Kobe’s leadership that stands out to me is his ability to constantly motivate and challenge himself and others to always reach for that next goal or that next accomplishment. A good example of this would be Kobe’s post-basketball career, in which he’s already won an Oscar in Best Animated Short Film for ‘Dear Basketball’. Kobe, who is regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time with having won a total of 5 NBA Championships, 2 Olympic Gold Medals, an MVP, 2 Finals MVP’s, and countless other accolades throughout his 20-year Hall of Fame basketball career stated in an interview last November: “If basketball is the best thing I’ve done in my life, then I’ve failed.” Now that is lot of pressure to put on yourself, especially someone with Kobe’s resume, but it’s a simple mission and a simple goal set by a tremendous leader. I believe that good leaders set goals like this not only to raise the bar high for them, but to raise the bar high for everyone around them and everyone following them to reach for it. Besides, pressure is nothing new to Kobe. Kobe has been thriving under pressure his entire career. One of my favorite Kobe quotes is: “Everything negative – pressure, challenges – is all an opportunity for me to rise.” Kobe describes his famous adage ‘Mamba Mentality’ as a way of life, and a way to live with just trying to get better everyday at whatever you’re doing. Kobe has demonstrated this mentality as a basketball player, and as a leader too.

My inspiration in sports is Lebron James because not only is he one of the best basketball players of all time but he also does everything in his power to make his community a better place. Lebron James has excelled on the basketball court even when he has gad to play on a team with average players on it. He has gone to 8 NBA finals in a row and still works hard every day on improving his game and continue to dominate the competition. He’s an inspiration because his work off the court, for someone is insanely busy he still found time open up a school that he paid for. Lebron James also consistely does numerous different charitable events to help the less fortunate. Lebron James is able to be so kind to others even when people make him out to be a bad guy because he didn’t want to play basketball for their team. Lebron James is one of the most inspirational people in the world and sports is what helped him reach the platform hes on now where he is in a position to be an inspiration for others!

I chose Jamie Anderson, the most decorated female snowboarder in extreme sports to date. I love that she has a holistic approach to life and lives it out in her professional as well as personal life. I admire her drive, ambition, and unwillingness to give up. Her understanding that an what an individual gets out of a situation is in direct relation to what they put in is inspiring. He lifestyle seems to be coherent with keeping mind, body, and spirit in alignment and is evident in her approach to life, from food to yoga to environmental awareness. I also have a lot of respect for the way Jamie seems to treat fellow athletes. While it’s true that this is a competition sport, someone has to win and someone has to lose, I find it admirable that Jamie supports and encourages her fellow athletes to do their best and push their personal boundaries. She has an attitude of gratitude and understands that success in whatever you do requires the ability to take care of yourself. I relate to and identify with Jamie Anderson in many ways and I find great inspiration in watching her ride.
