I have always seen Derek Jeter as one of the best baseball players, but also one of the greatest leader in sports. The reasons why I believe he was such a good leader is because of the way he showed up to the field every single day with the same energy, the same will to be better than the day before. Always trying bring the game, and his teammates to the next level. He is also very selfless, the team matters more to him than his own person. Another important part of his leadership is that he wanted to be and he successfully was a role model for young athletes ON and OFF the field.

I have always been a huge fan of Matthew McConaughey, even more after this speech he gave. The speech is based off a vision and what to chase in not only sports but in life. Main reasons why this kind of change my outlook is because it teaches you to keep striving to be the best you in 10 years and when you get there you strive for the best you in the next 10 years. McConaughey is staying you’ll never reach that goal but you’ll always be better yourself and thats all someone can do. He’s not only a great leader but one of the people I look the most up to.

Kobe Bryant is the reason I fell in love with basketball and watching him play with such passion. I choose this clip because he talks about what you are passionate about, what he enjoys doing. He talks about how passionate about basketball he is and feels like he hasn’t worked a day in his life. Working hard and outworking your potential in life. Talks about playing with a chip on his shoulder throughout his career and how that drives about the competitive nature and the work ethic he has. Asking a lot of questions on how to get better and worked on them every day. He told Jay Williams that it didn’t matter how hard he worked that he would work harder than him, with him saying that to a guy he just worked out in front of way longer than he did and dropped 40 points on him shows the work ethic about Kobe. He talks about what is important to you and doing everything he could to be the best version of himself and he has done everything he could to be the best he could be.

I chose Dawn Staley. She is the Head Women’s Basketball coach at South Carolina. Before she became a coach there, she was a player. She played at the University of Virginia under Debbie Ryan, won a gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics, and played in the WNBA. She was voted as one of the Top 15 players in the WNBA and placed into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012. I admired her as a player and I like her coaching style. She was a quick guard. Feisty. Tough. Played hard. Her teams are the same way. You can tell she inspires her players and pushes them everyday. She wants them to be as good or better than she was. I like this clip because it shows the love and passion she had for the game.

I’ve chose Michael Jordan because I think he ‘s one of the best basketball players to ever play the game and he also won 6 NBA championships when he played in his time. The biggest reason on why I picked him is because he was a leader and always had passionate for the game of basketball, he showed his leadership on and off the court and had his teammates committed to winning seasons. Even though he could be such a big competitor a everything he did in life with that being basketball, gambling, or even betting on shots at practice with other teammates. He wanted to do everything thing to win in whatever he did to win and always had his teammates and coaches on the same exact mindset. I like this clips because it shows how he showed it.

The person I decided to choose is Kobe. His mentality and love for the game inspires me the most. Kobe outworked everybody to have his name remembered forever. He stayed loyal throughout the tough years in Los Angeles when he could have left and went somewhere else. He was the driving force of those championship teams. Kobe Bryant won several rings as a player in the league, but he was able to win a Grammy as well. He taught us all what the “Mamba Mentality” really means.
