A leader that I respect a lot is Geno Auriemma. He has built a basketball dynasty at UCON for women’s basketball. What I admire about him is how he is able to extract the very best for his players. I think he dose a really good job of setting high standards and not excepting anything but the best. I think the Gono values the little things which in return ends with success. At the end of the video it shows how much he cares for his player. It also shows how knows the importance of truly knowing all his players.

Emma Watson is well known for her role in Harry Potter, but she is also well known for being an active feminist. In this short video, she explains how there is a negative association with the word feminist. I’m sure some of reading this also have negative thoughts when you read or hear that word. She explains how that word is associated with “man hating” but by definition is means “women in men should be equal.” I chose her for this subject because she inspires people to stand up for what they believe in. She uses her fame and social status to fight for equality and encourages others to do the same. I also admire her because whenever she gives speeches, she is always poised and doesn’t use hate; she uses passion and knowledge to make her case. She has been a positive influence in my life and has been a role model for countless other females.

The leader I chose was Tom Coughlin. Coach Coughlin was one of my favorite leaders growing up due to his success as the NY Giants head football coach that included winning two super bowls. Some of his key points to leading a football team was firm, fair, and demanding. I believe he held players accountable by the standards he set, and enforced the standards with a strong hand through fines and playing time. He also understood that he had to demand excellence from his players in order to achieve a common goal between him and the players. The one thing in this video that I really admire was his ability to change. He was able to change by also adding caring into one of his key points. He did this after he had already established the other three points, and understood that his players had to see that he cared about them both as a football player and a person. After he adopted this new principle, he enjoyed much more success. I like to think that having a core set of principles is important when being a coach or a leader, but I think being able to adapt to your players is even more important, and Coach Tom Coughlin was able to do this and enjoy the success that came along.

Andy Reid has been a great leader on and off the football field. You always see him trying to lift his team up instead of getting onto them when things don’t work out the way he intended.
