I chose Michael Jordan for my pick for a great leader. In this video it shows that he first led his team by example. As the video progresses Michael becomes more vocal giving his team encouraging words to help them perform better. This video also interviewed some of his teammates and how they looked at him. Overall I believe Michael Jordan was a great leader for his team.

Serena Williams is a great example of a peak
performer. I believe this because a peak performer has many components to them. She meets every one of them. From winning 23 ground breaking titles to creating charity organizations for education, gender equality and hunger just to name a few. She inspirational to me because she shows determination, commitment, and at the same time be humble. In the video listed it shows how hard she worked to get where she's at and the struggles that occurred along the way. But she also mentions that everyone has struggles to get where they want and the most important thing to do is self belief.

I chose Kobe Bryant for my leadership example. Kobe is by far my favorite basketball player of all time, and also one of my favorite leaders. I just love Kobe’s demeanor of setting out to dominate an opponent by both out working and out hustling them. Kobe’s leadership style is dynamic. Similar to Michael Jordan, Kobe strived to make his teammates better by any means possible. Kobe wasn’t afraid of confrontation with his teammates or even his coaches. Although Kobe soon realized in his career that everyone is not motivated the same way, so he switched up his leadership methods a little. I think that a good leadership quality is being open and willing to change when something is not working, and Kobe is good at being able to adapt to different situations. Finally, the meaning of Kobe famous adage 'Mamba Mentality' is a perfect example of what Kobe embodies as both a leader, basketball player, and a person. 'Mamba Mentality' is described by Kobe as “a way to live with just trying to get better everyday at whatever you're doing.”

I chose Lionel Messi as I am a former soccer player, but also because Messi to me is a real inspiration. Growing up and playing soccer and watching the greats like Henry, Zidane, and so many others I began to want to be like them and play at a pro level. Growing up, the only problem I had was my size. Seeing all these pro athletes compete against one another was so exciting, but they were also much much larger. Knowing I was still a kid I was not too worried about the my size issue, but there came a point when I had almost finished growing and I was still playing and I still wasn't big enough in my mind. Then I had heard of this young player from Argentina named Messi, who was one of the youngest players and was also one of the smallest players. Today Messi is thought of as possibly the best soccer player to have ever lived. He has done so many incredible things in the game despite his size, and he is a humble man on top of it all, but confident in his abilities.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XsR60g8mOE

I chose this video with Jocko Willink, who is a former Navy Seal, to get that ultimate point of view of a leader. The message through his words are powerful and in depth due to the fact that he ties in normal events into our everyday life and how we face battles on a consistent basis. Leadership is a choice that everyone has an opportunity for. Jocko explains why you need to be ready to lead all the time. Always having the leadership mentality will allow you to be ready in any leadership situations that come your way. Have a leadership perspective in everything you do and it will become a part of you.

I choose MLK because he changed society as a leader. Martin Luther King went against the crowds and odds that people of color would be treated the same despite the color of their skin. He inspires many to go out of your comfort zone to succeed the dreams you are trying to reach. I feel like getting out of your comfort zone pushes you to boundaries you would have never have thought of reaching just as he did. He is an iconic leader who we still talk about today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I47Y6VHc3Ms

I chose Peyton Manning to present as a peak performer. There are many people who say that Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. The reason I chose Manning was because he displays the themes of leadership. He builds togetherness and trust by creating a fun and welcoming environment for his teammates and coaches. He is open and is a great communicator with the people he works with. Along with many of the other themes of leadership that Manning exhibited daily on and off the field, I also feel like he is just all around a good person. I found a video in which he hand wrote letters to a couple of retired players and coaches thanking them for how they played and respected their profession in the NFL. The video I am sharing is a clip of a former teammate of Manning acknowledging the difference in their team's performance and success without Manning's leadership. https://youtu.be/9C1J3SgZJ-g

I chose Tim Tebow's "Promise" speech after Florida Gators lost to Ole Miss by 1 point. This speech shows his committment to the school, to the game and to the fans to do the best that he can and hold himself accountable for the way things played out. He showed his passion and emotions that lead the whole team that far. He cares about his team and had the confidence to build trust with everyone after the lost and promise that they will continue to play to their best ablity for the rest of the season. He accepted defeat and bulit on it to keep moving foward knowing that something great can come out of all situations. After this season him and his team went on to win the BCS National Championship agaisnt ranked #1 Oklahama proving what a true leadership mindset can do.

I chose Inky Johnson as many of you guys all know he always does very inspirational videos. And after have hearing his story and learning more about his background and just getting to know him as a person I am now well aware of the leadership role he took on early in life the sacrifices he had to make. Everything he did was to not only better himself but his to put his family in a better situation as well and I feel as though we are almost one in the same when it comes to that nature. He bought into becoming a leader and he was committed to the sport he loved which is Football and just like me he found a way out of what many may call the slums just as I did he was so he's v very passionate about the game there wasn't anything that could take him away from football and that's exactly how I am. I chose Inky Johnson not only because I loved the way he plays or we share a similar sport it was because the story that he has everyone has a story about how they got to where they are today and his is probably one of the most inspirational this guy went from playing Division I football up until it was time to play in the NFL he had lost his arm shortly after a tragic incident after a game but fortunately that level of adversity still never tarnished his goals or got in the way of anything he wanted to accomplish now he speaks all over the country going from school to school to tell his story and help inspire people.

I choose Coach Bobby Bowden as my leader because of what he embodies as not only a coach but a friend. Faith, Family and Football. Those are words that go hand in hand with Coach Bowden. To this day he still has not been afraid to profess his Faith and how it's the foundation to his success. He has always said Family is next and demonstrated that throughout his career. He would teach that to his fellow co-workers, as well as players. Then there's football. Most people know Coach for the success he had on the gridiron but many don't know the humble beginnings of Coach taking over a losing program and forging them into a dynasty. Throughout the decades he coached he always stuck to that formula of Faith, Family and Football and it affected several lives positively all while doing his passion.
