I liked this video because this is motivation to never hear the haters. Also he talks about how people can have their opinions about you and you can prove that wrong. That motivated me because playing sports you will always have people in your ear saying different things about you. But I somehow always prove people wrong so I can relate to what he said. He also says “Effort” and effort is something you need to be the best person you can be I believe and not just in sports as a person. He also said he never had let anybody beat him in practice because his effort made him have an ego to say he will never let anyone beat him.

MJ I feel like Michael Jordan is an effective leader because he doesn't just lead people around them he preaches what he teach which rubs off on him. Also another reason is he is praised from his hard work and dedication. Also is popular from high school story to him getting cut off basketball team. Michael jordan went back to work and became one of the greatest to do it. Another reason he is one of my favor leaders because the knowledge he gives out is unpriceable. Whenever he's motivating he never talks about him being the leader telling people what to do like most leaders he creates more leaders instead. Another thing I liked what Michael Jordan said in the video saying he put the same dedication and work in to his Jordan Brand. He also stated about learning from the mistakes which is something that is important in this world. Making the same mistakes makes you go backwards. https://media1.giphy.com/media/5wWf7GR2nhgamhRnEuA/giphy-downsized-small.mp4

He is considered the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He has never been the most talented player on the field but their is a reason he has been so successful. He has a drive and determination to be the most prepared and to get the most out of his teammates. I chose this clip because he talks about how in a team their are different ways to be an effective leader. He says that accountability is the most crucial part, being able to hold people accountable while being able to be held accountable yourself. As a quarterback myself it is great to hear all of the things that he did to be an effective leader. He cares for the people around him while also being tough on them to get the most out of them, which I believe is a extremely important quality.

Video … https://youtu.be/Ob7aNSFB2BE?si=sG_t9xpeStfcj4TU

A leader that I look up to as of recent is Dana White. Dana White is the president and founder of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). I look up to him in many ways; I admire his business mindset and how he manages the UFC and his fighters. I also really respect how he carries himself with the public, he is unapologetically himself and doesn't change for anybody, and I wish more humans would be similar to that. Lastly, I love how he treats his body and takes care of his health. Dana used to be fat and unhealthy and now he is shredded and truly dedicated to living a healthy life... As a leader I think that is a beyond perfect way to lead the people under you.

Howdy. My name is Graysen Lewis and I chose a clip from Kobe Bryant. In this clip he emphasizes the importance of holding people accountable and the difficulty of leadership. Infact, Kobe goes as far to say that leadership is lonely. In his view of leadership you have to accept that you cannot please everybody, eventually someone will be upset. When this happens the leader must keep strong and maintain course for the rest of the group. For Kobe, this meant holding himself to and others around him to an extremely high standard. This often meant making unpopular decisions, confronting teammates, and having uncomfortable conversations. The key to being a leader with this style is becoming comfortable in these situations. Leaders like Kobe Bryant have to stay disciplined to ensure they maintain the drive to achieve success, which can create a sense of loneliness.

For this discussion, I chose Drew Brees, former star quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. Drew Brees is a well known leader in the football world, leading passionate pregame huddles and being pretty well respected by all of his former teammates and peers. Drew Brees is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game, and I feel a large part of that has to do with his leadership skills and how he cultivated relationships with his teammates. A quarterback is nothing without his teammates rallying around the leadership of him, and Brees understood that. In this video, he goes back to his alma mater of Purdue, and he gives a rousing pregame speech to the student athletes in the locker room. He wanted to inspire them to play hard for not only their team and coaches but the community that supports them as well. There are so many videos of Brees hyping up his team in a pregame huddle, but this one stood out to me as he wanted to stress the importance of humility and being humble to those young collegiate athletes.

Howdy, I am Parker Tepera and when people hear the name Terrell Owens, many think of the loud, showboating, talking a lot guy with no rings. However, many are not aware of the leader Owens is. A guy whose teammates say they always worked the hardest because if you are going to have the loudest mouth, you have to be able to lead by example as well, and this is what Owens was able to do. I chose the "That's my Quarterback" clip because I think I represent a key quality of being a leader, and that is taking responsibility. Tony Romo, the Cowboys QB, had essentially lost the game for the team. As a young QB, TO was able to recognize and act when his team needed someone to do so—instead of letting the heat fall onto Romo, Owens owned the situation, turning the spotlight and bad press onto himself. While Owens may not be your stereotypical leader, he is still very much effective in practice. Owens is able to get his team going by showing his emotion and sticking up for his team. Leadership comes in many forms, and TO is a leader.

Howdy. My name is Bradley Hancock and I chose Patrick Beverly's talk on how he is a dawg, and what his career has looked like. While many people look down on Pat, his career holds testimony to how hard working he truly is. Pat has never had it easy. People constantly talk bad about his mentality, or that he is a dirty player. However, I believe it is more of him being hardworking and motivated. Something that every leader should hold strong to. While many people would be too embarrassed to leave the NBA to head over to Israel to play, it was entirely different for Pat. He holds himself to a standard that doesn't falter to pressure. That is why I believe he is a leader, even if others do not agree.

Howdy! My name is Gracie Dolan and I chose to cover America Ferreras TED talk on authenticity. I think in our time, it is relatively easy for people to find leadership in many different places. This could be good and bad, obviously not everyone should be looked to for leadership; however, with the advancement of media, many worthy people have been given a platform to lead. The actress America Ferrera is a person I think has rightfully earned the right to lead in the media, especially young women. In the heat of press for the release of the Barbie movie, she gave a TED talk that has gained over 4 million views for her points about personal identity. I personally find this motivating as a woman who has been told most of her life that she is ‘too much.’ Although Mrs. Ferrera hits hard on how her culture has affected her life in this speech, most women can relate to the idea of having to focus on not being ‘too’ anything. I think that Mrs. Ferrera is a wonderful leader for all, but especially young women. By setting a new standard for personal authenticity, I think she is opening the doors for generations to come to live as they are and to not dim their own light to make others comfortable.
