I chose the Death Crawl scene from Facing the Giants because I think it highlights how a good leader can push someone to do more than they thought they could do. In this clip Coach Taylor dares Brock to do the death crawl with one of his teammates on his back. He blindfolds Brock so he can’t see how far he’s gone and must focus on putting his best effort into it. Coach Taylor is right there with Brock the whole time, even when Brock says he can’t go any farther. He continues to encourage him. I think this displays the quality of a strong leader in believing in the people they are guiding, even if they may not fully believe in themselves. Coach Taylor is also a good leader because he keeps Brock accountable and doesn’t let him give up when things get hard. He also exhibits the capacity to motivate someone by talking with them and providing them a cause to keep going. I chose this clip because I believe it demonstrates how sometimes individuals limit themselves not knowing what they are actually capable of doing. This scene motivates me since it highlights how a good leader can bring out the best in others and help them realize their greatest potential. Facing the Giants

https://youtu.be/RoxPwy1UsF8?si=2DOpAOwH9jSM-JqM
I chose this motivational speech from Nick Saban because he is a great example of a strong and successful leader. He is one of the most successful college football coaches and has shown that he genuinely cares about his athletes beyond the football field. In this speech, he talks about toughness and what it takes to succeed. He explains that no matter what success means to you, giving your best effort can lead to a happy and fulfilling life. One thing that stood out to me was his advice to move on to the next play, whether you succeed or fail, instead of focusing on the past. I think this also applies to life because we cannot let past mistakes hold us back. Saban ends by saying, “Focusing on the right things, not the results, but what it takes to get the results creates toughness.” His message shows that success is not just about the outcome, but about focusing on your effort, mindset, and what you can control.

Noah Herring Dak Prescott mental health leadership

Dak Prescott is a leader on and off the field through communication and vulnerability while talking about mental health. During covid in 2020 Dak came under tremendous pressure and hard times as he battled anxiety and depression. Now this came out from his brother who killed himself and his mother who died from cancer. These are two very hard things and them happening that close together is dangerous and depressing for anyone close to them. Through his foundation, he provides suicide prevention and connects with advocates like Solomon Thomas to honor those lost to suicide. He then won the walter peyton man of the year award showing the love he has for the people around him. This is the type of leader Dak Prescott is: he steps up for the guys on the field and leads by example all while the moment he steps off is looking out for their mental health and loving on them. Lastly he does things like write and ask 4 help on his gloves and wrists so when the camera goes on him anyone watching sees what he is advocating for.

Clip My name is Dawson Moerbe, and for my example of an effective leader I chose Coach Mike Elko. In this clip it takes us back to this past season where we were playing LSU. We were down 18 to 14 going into halftime. After halftime the Aggies were able to almost shut out LSU only allowing them to score 7 points in the second half, while the Aggies scored 35 in the second half. In this clip you are able to see what kind of leader Elko is. The players listen to what he has to say. Everything Elko says to his players is straight to the point. He does not like to soften up; he is very direct with what he is saying. I believe this is the coaching style that players need to improve as not only an athlete but also a person.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=548EVdqlIpY I chose this short clip of Draymond Green keeping his young teammate Jordan Bell's head high after missing an open dunk in a playoff game. Draymond went out of his way in the next play and during the timeout to tell Bell that everyone here has missed a shot, as he points at his teammate Steph Curry, his opponent Damian Lillard, and himself, so there is no reason to keep his head down. The first possession out of the timeout, Draymond finds Bell cutting to the basket and he finishes the dunk, showing the trust Draymond has in his teammates. I understand this is not the typical motivational video or speech, but this immediately came to my mind, because of how Draymond took care of the situation and how he treated his teammate. No one is perfect, but it is still hard to handle messing up in situations, whether it be with sports, work, or family. In those situations, it is important to have a leader that you trust is there for you to keep your head high and never give up. As a leader, it is important to find the people around you who need to hear that nobody is perfect and that everyone here has messed up. In the world of sports, that is a teammate, with a job it can be a coworker, and with family, it can be siblings or parents. In all these groups, teamwork and togetherness is important to succeed, and it is crucial that everyone in that group can trust each other and know that everyone has each others back. This specifically motivates me, because it pushes me to be like Draymond in this clip, pushing others to succeed, while comforting them enough to know that can trust me.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/3c2rMYgmVJ8

The reason I chose this clip is because it showed outstanding leadership for his team. The man trying to motivate his teammates name is Reece James and he plays for Chelsea. Over the past couple of years Chelsea have had some bad seasons, and they have faced a lot of critics. Despite this Reece James the captain of the team has never bowed his head to noise, even after all the bad seasons he continues to show up and work hard for his team every game day. Including in this clip when Chelsea had just scored a goal. Most teams when they score a goal get comfortable and complacent, but for Reece's team he refuses to let that happen. During every stage of the game, whether they are winning or losing, he will motivate his teammates to give them all the minutes they play just like he does. Keeping the intensity up for a whole 90 minutes is very near impossible to do in professional sports, especially in pro soccer. But the man in the video would rather lose trying to help his team, than to not try at all.

I chose this video of Stephen Curry because I believe Steph is an amazing example of leadership. In this clip, Steph talks about his journey in the NBA and how his leadership approach has developed and changed. One of the main points that stood out to me was his idea that he believes the best leader does not have to be the loudest in the room. Since Steph is not the loudest person on the court, he chooses to lead through his actions, work ethic, and difficult situations. I believe this makes him a great leader because he is always mindful of setting an example for his teammates. He also mentions that basketball games cannot be won by one person; no matter who it is, it always takes teamwork to win championships. The last quality that makes him a strong leader is how he is able to stay confident and composed under pressure. I chose Stephen Curry because he leads by example, motivates his teammates, and most importantly, stays humble. That is why I believe he is an effective leader.

I found this movie particularly inspiring because it was shown at the start of our orientation. I was reminded of the lesson to "handle hard better": challenging circumstances are part of life, not only Camp. We are occasionally the first to question our skills or believe we are incapable of handling a situation. However, we must overcome those ideas, take lessons from the difficulty, and figure out how to make it work. As Top Staff, I discovered that leadership entails maintaining your composure in the face of adversity and always striving for greatness. Kara Lawson is an inspiring, resilient, honest, and growth oriented leader. This video reminded me that despite the difficulties we encounter, we never stop learning, developing, and striving for the high standards we set for ourselves. -Dani Tomey

I chose Nick Chubb because I have been a Cleveland Browns fan my whole life and when the team goes through a lot of failures and difficult times when talent comes through especially the talent of a guy like Nick Chubb the fans connect with him very quickly. Nick Chubb was one of the leagues top running backs before he has a very nasty knee injury, Nick Chubb was often described as a silent leader someone who wasn't going to yell at you or lead with his voice he was going to show you and you would see what he is doing and you would follow because of who he is and what he has done. I chose this clip because it shows Chubb eight months after surgery on his knee squatting almost 600 pounds, 600 is a crazy amount for most people let alone someone coming off of a freak injury. Nick Chubb doing this is showing his team that he is working his tail off to come back strong and it would be a huge motivating thing for the team to see how hard he is working to come back and help them. The sad part about this is Chubb never came back the same and he then went to the Texans and could never really find his step again but even throughout that he never stopped leading by example and helping youngeer talent see the work they need to put in to be sucessful. A leader comes in many different ways, some are vocal some are example driven some may be both and people react different to all different types of leaders but for what Nick Chubb did in his time in Cleveland he will always be remembered for the great running back and person he was.
