I chose this clip "No Excuses" because I can truly relate to this video. All my life when I don't want to do a certain task I will make excuse and procratinate it, even though I know it isn't good for me. I think everyone struggles with this a little but I loved this video because it really shows the attitude that we need to have when we feel this way. The clip showed how we can overcome these feelings and even find ways to where we can do better and overachieve this. I believe that you will get no where in life if all you do is make excuses because I think everything is possible if you just truly work hard for it and put your mind to it.

I choose this video because I liked the way he talked about everything being motivation for you. It gives me a reason to go harder than I did before. This is a great motivational speech of young athletes who are ever in doubt about anything or if they are in doubt about how to they feel in their sport. This video gives me hope to be the best person and athlete I can possible be, especially where I am right now in life. I know that these words will challenge someone for the better.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnHW6o8WMas

Hi everyone,
I chose this video because it is something I did for so long. In high school I often found myself making excuses just like the examples used in this video. I went through a very difficult time my junior year and did not put forth my best effort in a lot of activities I participated in. It took me awhile to realize the only reason things were not getting better was because of myself and all the excuses I was making. I then realized that no one has a perfect life and there are people going through things 100 times worse than I was. I eventually used that as motivation and stopped making excuses for my own actions. I think this video has a bigger message than initially interpreted, once you start thinking of your life and all the things you made excuses for you might question yourself. At the end of the day everything that happens in your life is dependent on you and how to react to situations, if you stay motivated and on track things will continue to prosper and grow, but if you make excuses you will just make things harder on yourself.

The video I chose is by Nike and I chose this video because its realistic and motivational. The video shows the hardships and triumphs of women. No matter what women do in their respective sports, whether it be a great accomplishment or a slightly negative outburst, there will always be people on the other side discrediting the good and blowing the negative out of proportion. This video highlighted the tribulations of specific athletes, powerful women who are masters at what they do, and how even with all the negatives going against these women, they power through and reach the top. The way the video tells women to push through the adversity in sports can also be applied to not only sport setting but real life settings such as school, work, and social life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWfX5jeF6k4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBi5U9Xg_EU
I picked this video because it resembles what took me so long to realize for myself. The world you live in all depends on the state of mind you are interpreting everything in. Once I began to realize this I stopped saying negative things or thinking things happen TO me and started to believe that things are happening FOR me. I specifically remember on my 20th birthday I was going to Santa Cruz for the night with friends and on the way up there my tire popped. For whatever reason my car does not carry a spare and the tire repair kit it comes with was not going to help so I needed to call AAA and take it to a tire shop. Turns out the tire shop I took it to was closing and I had to wait until the next morning for them to change it. Luckily one of my friends was driving up later and was able to pick us up so we could make our dinner reservation. During that whole time I did not get mad, I thought what if I was in an accident but instead my tire popped instead to prevent it, and felt so lucky my friend had come up later so she could pick us up. This video reminds me that even at the hardest times, all that matters is how I interpret what is happening to me to either make it a positive or negative experience.

The video I picked is one where there are some a few of Denzel Washington's speeches where he breaks down successes and failures we have as a human being. I really enjoy what he said because a human being we are bound to fail whether we like it or not but the different is that some get back up and keep and going no matter how many times, they have fallen. That is what makes a person different from someone who just quits. We were given with a gift or a set of abilities to be able to do something in this world. This video really resides in me, and I have seen a few other speeches but other people since my father is someone who likes to hear and watch these kinds of videos. My favorite quote from the video must be "Without commitment, you'll never start, but more importantly, without consistency, you'll never finish."

The video I chose is a combination of motivational speeches from Cristiano Ronaldo. Throughout the many different speeches he gives he explains the judgement of others putting him down, rising up, working hard, and ultimately believing in yourself. Although Ronaldo was first set up for failure he persevered through the hardships and now is one of the most successful people not just in football but in life. He explains that as long as you stay true to yourself you will succeed and achieve your dreams. In the speech my favorite quote was when Ronaldo said, "In my mind I'm always the best I don't care what people are thinking or what they say, in my mind I'm always the best." I really enjoyed this quote because it shows the strong mentality he had even though he was doubted by many but stayed motivated and proved everyone wrong because he believed in himself.

The video I picked is a mix a motivational speeches mostly by Tony Robbins. In theses speeches he talks about many topics on how to motivate and push yourself. One way he does this is he goes through his own journey of self motivations through struggle and depression. He also focuses on appreciating life and changing your mentality. One very powerful quote from one of his speeches is, "It doesn't have to be that you're against the wall but it has to be something you're hungry for because the only difference in people is hunger".

Hello, my name is Sebastian Garde and for this assignment, I have chosen Stan Lee’s 2017 UCLA Extension Graduation Keynote speech. I chose this speech because Stan Lee was a great man who created stories and characters that entertained and inspired many through many years. I find this video particularly motivational because it showed me the importance of confidence and belief in yourself. The video features Stan Lee telling the story of the creation of Spider-Man to a graduating class at UCLA. Spider-Man is one of the most iconic superheroes of all time however Lee’s publisher at the time disliked the character. Some complaints that Lee’s publisher had included, they couldn't use the name Spider-Man because people dislike spiders, teenagers are only supposed to be sidekicks, and superheroes are not supposed to have personal problems. The idea of Spider-Man seemed to go against many of the conventional ideals of superhero characters. Despite Spider-Man being introduced in the last issue of a poorly-selling comic series Spider-Man went on to get his own series and become one of the best-known superheroes of all time. One of the most powerful statements Lee made in this speech was “If you have an idea that you genuinely think is good, don't let some idiot talk you out of it”. This statement was partially motivational to me because I often second-guess myself when it comes to achieving goals or certain ideas because of other people's influence. To me, Lee’s statement acts as a reminder that one must have confidence in themselves in order to achieve a goal or see an idea through to fruition. While many others discourage pursuing certain ideas or goals as they seem too outlandish or impossible, it is up to you to believe in that idea or goal and to see it through to the end. Lee in the speech also acknowledges that not every idea or goal will come to fruition, but if it is something you strongly believe in and have confidence in both the idea/goal and yourself you should at least try because at the very least you will have done something you believed in. I find that sentiment very motivational because it is important to recognize that while our ideas or goals may not pan out how we want, the fact that we did something or at least tried to do something that we strongly believed in is still fulfilling. Simply trying to bring an idea to fruition or attempting to achieve a goal is still fulfilling because you did something that you believed in. I believe you can find pride in the fact that you came up with the idea or tried to accomplish something. Overall Stan Lee’s speech is a great motivational piece as the overall message is to have confidence in yourself and to not let the influence of others discourage you from seeing your ideas to fruition or achieving your goals.

The video that I picked is the training segment from the movie Rocky 3. I chose this video specifically because it gives me chills and always puts me beyond a motivating mood. I feel as if I can never give up and push myself past my limits. Especially with the story in this movie, Rocky seems to find himself out of it and has Apollo train him and get back to his groove. You always need someone to support you and pick you back up to regain your confidence. Watching this training video always motivates myself to go to the gym or go for a run outdoors.
